I've searched high and low for my last GateList post and I'm shocked that it was at the end of 2013. So much has happened since then it's crazy. My new boss, Jeff Pickerill, has actually done a hell of a job even though we have not gelled quite as well as I would have liked- but I respect him and what he's trying to accomplish, so it is what it is.
Mike Deluca came in, landed right on the issues (the guy has a way of cutting to the chase that just tickles me) and set up a trip to Club Med in Florida that turned out to be amazing. The guy has done much to turn the company around, although when you're a 4 year veteran leader of the team, it's not the norm. I'ts been a challenge for me to find out what's working and what isn't, with the crux for me ALWAYS being the customer having their needs met. I love it when I'm successful, and that happens most often. Any time I present to a client, I'm expecting to make them money and provide a positive change in their business. If I can do that inside of 90 days- we typically have a great working relationship that grows and grows. The challenge, of course, is that I continue to build a base of clients that need attention and have huge opportunity to grow. My money is made on building my existing clients- but there is still a lot of new business goals for Hearst
.
At the same time, I have to (unfortunately) fight the good fight to make sure that our products deliver. It's ironic in a big corporation that you get so much push back for doing right by the customer. The concern is that I'm spending too much time pampering my existing clients and not finding enough new ones- and to that I say- bullshit. I will always put my reputation on the line for the benefit of my clients because it's the market, the clients, and my reputation that live on long after Hearst. Fortunately for me- I have a boss who cares, I have executive leaders that care, and I'm part of a company that is rapidly taking the market by storm- so watch out world. This blog was just to get back on the map- and the next one will be the breakdown of what I've experienced in the first half of 2014. GRATITUDE for the blessing of my job and my amazing clients- many of whom I call my friends- and the opportunity to help people achieve what they want, while I'm lifted up to do the same. It's a beautiful thing.....
